What is acrygel? a hybrid product composed of UV gel and resin

What exactly is acrygel? How does it work ?

It is a mixture of two products. On the one hand the UV gel which is a liquid or viscous substance and which solidifies under a UV lamp. And on the other hand, the resin which is obtained from acrylic powder and monomer liquid. This dries in the open air.

We can say that acrygel or acrylic gel has the advantage of benefiting from the benefits of these two techniques. It is easy to handle and provides perfect adhesion to natural nails. It is a product with a thick and viscous texture and does not flow.

The characteristics of a hybrid alternative

Acrygel extensions therefore combine the ease of installation and shaping with drying with a UV lamp.

The material is odorless and its application can be done on a mold (pop it), a capsule or on a template. Acrygel can come in a tube or in a jar.

But why mix a gel and a resin? The combination of the two products allows better retention of the material. It lasts for at least 4 weeks. Then it is a very economical product. Indeed with acrygel, no need to waste! Its semi-hard material allows you to put it back in its pot when you add too much. And there is almost no filing to be done (a block stroke can be enough).

To make a nail prosthesis, you have the choice between UV gel, resin or acrygel. The latter is a fusion of these two materials. Easy to install and super malleable, it does not leak. And this allows you to make considerable savings on the product. We can say that acrylic gel is a rather effective alternative. It is unanimously approved by nail technicians.

Modeling your nails with acrygel: what you need to know

Material for acrygel nail extension

Available in a kit allowing installation at home but for an impeccable result, it is recommended to have it installed by a nail technician.

As you are curious, here is the list of essential instruments:

  • A nail file
  • a cuticle pusher
  • the basic products of a manicure (cleaner, primer, base coat)
  • an application brush
  • pop its (or stencils depending on your preferences)
  • without forgetting the acrylic gel (in a pot or tube)

Acrylic gel application technique

Applying acrylic gel resembles certain nail extension techniques. But it is more precisely related to the application of semi-permanent varnish. In fact, it is possible to apply a primer or base to the nail before applying the product. Acrygel will provide additional protection to the nails, especially since it is not harmful to them.

But before any application, don't forget to prepare and clean the nails. Push back the cuticles and file to remove any remaining nail polish. Be careful, however, not to coat the nails with a greasing product. This will prevent the artificial nails from sticking.

Installation with pop it or stencil

But actually, what is a pop it? It is a capsule or more precisely a mold which represents the shape and dimensions of the nail. They are only used for installing acrygel. There are several sizes, lengths or shapes. Some may be reusable. There's even something for the feet! These molds are generally made of transparent and flexible plastic. Don't worry, the pop it is easy to use.

The steps for installing the acrygel:

Step 1: installing the pop it or stencil

Simply place a dab of acrygel on it. To avoid overflows. In fact, it could burn your skin or cuticles when passing under the lamp.

Then, with the brush, shape the product according to the desired nail shape. The brush must be soaked in pure cleaner. Note that it is important to regularly pass it through the cleaner so that the gel does not stick to it.

When the modeling is finished, place the pop it firmly on the natural nail. And cure it under the UV lamp for 2 to 3 minutes (depending on the power of your lamp).

Step 2: Remove the pop it or template and file to improve the shape

The gel has hardened. Remove the pop it, or the template. File the nail using your file or buffer to finish shaping. Remember to dust the nail and your table.

On the extension side, it's done.

Now the question is how you are going to beautify your nail extensions. Furthermore, the most important thing is to apply the top coat or finishing gel if necessary. After application, cure again under UV lamp to perfect the acrygel manicure.

We can never say it enough, for a neat finish, think about cuticle oil.

For beginners, the pop it is the easiest solution. In fact, when making stencil extensions, you must work the gel directly on the nail.

And although the technique of applying acrygel is simple, it still requires precision and know-how. If you have doubts, call an experienced professional for a complete installation (or special occasions such as weddings, etc.).

Removing nail extensions, a fairly simple process

How to remove acrygel?

Removing acrylic gel is easy. It all depends on how it is installed. The purpose of removing it is to remove the false nails without damaging the real ones! How to proceed ?

It can be done with a polishing file. But the best is with a sander. In both cases and if you used templates for its installation, you must sand so as to reveal the latter. Take a polishing block for what remains of the capsule.

Another way to do it is to apply acetone remover. Consider moisturizing the cuticles with a suitable cuticle oil.

How to use semi-permanent varnish?

Removing the semi-permanent varnish , remember, is to soak the nails in acetone until the lacquer comes off. Or if you prefer the other technique, that of using cotton soaked in nail polish remover surrounded by aluminum foil. Please note that with acrylic gel it is the same technique. Additionally, oil your fingers and nails with suitable oil (or Vaseline will work). Why this process? They must be protected from product irritation.

After leaving it to act for 30 minutes, you will need to file the capsule and the synthetic nail until there is no more left... Dust, disinfect. And for effective treatment, apply the nourishing oil once more.

A little advice: be careful with acetone. It is a flammable product.

There is no need to worry about removing synthetic nail extensions. So, if you know how to remove semi-permanent varnish, you will easily be able to do the same with acrygel. Follow the entire process of a manicure to make removal easier. And always remember to moisturize your fingers and nails.
